Love Revolution - Free Palestine

Dayana Zahari | Tuesday, June 30, 2015 | 0Comments |
I came across this on Facebook,
NOTHING TO SEE HERE has been my conscious effort to point out serious, often horrifying truths that have gone overlooked by all too many people relying on mainstream media for too long. Yet thanks to the exponential power of this social networking page reaching well over two million online worldwide, the hopeful irony is just how many have now come to see and share such ARTivist images to seek and demand real change.
This is when the world is demanding for justice through arts. A lot of countries have join in their efforts of creating more awareness of Palestinian genocide that is currently happening.

Banyak segmen sempena nak raya ni.

All About The Songs

Dayana Zahari | Tuesday, June 30, 2015 | 2Comments |
I don't spend much of my time listening to music these past years. But I have been very musically inclined since young indeed - being taught the piano and organ (read: electone). Kalau dulu, senang je nak adjust tune lagu and all those stuff. Bakat tu macam dah berkarat ditinggalkan.
I just feel like sharing my choice of music and my thoughts by joining this 'segmen' by Rrai.

1. Lagu yang buat saya teringat zaman sekolah dulu, would be, Vitamin C's - Friends Forever. Sebab kalau hujung tahun je or ada majlis perpisahan sekolah selalu pasang lagu ni.

2. Lagu patah hati, this is a tough one, macam takde je. Hmm.

3. Lagu yang boleh buat bangkit dan move on, would be Freedom by Maher Zain. It started off with Syiqin yang pasang lagu ni pagi-pagi as her alarm dekat KDU. Kalau dengar je ingat KDU, ingat kena bangun pagi. Haha, tapi, something deeper than bangun pagi: silalah hayati lirik lagu ni.

4. Lagu yang buat teringat kat mak/ayah kalau dengar ni, My Little Girl by Maher Zain. Maybe sebab I'm the only girl, bayangkan Ibu Abah nyanyi lagu ni, huu. Lepas tu rasa macam, betul ke I have brought the 'pleasure to their souls' and as stated dalam lirik lagu tu. Semoga betul lah. Terasa sangat lagu ni pula sebab bila dah kahwin ni, memang, terasa sangat yang kita hidup dekat dunia ni nak please Allah, dan sekarang bila dah ada keluarga sendiri, dah tak boleh melekat dengan Ibu Abah. Makanya, memang hoping for the eternal life where we can't even think of how Allah makes all souls are happy and pleased, without jealousy, without time limit, waaaa I just can't imagine. Really. Because I once heard that someone asked boleh tak nak jumpa kucing dia dekat syurga nanti, and then from a few pendapat, ada yang kata, nanti mungkin kita dah tak ingat pun kucing kita or apa-apa pleasures dekat dunia sebab dekat akhirat ada yang LEBIH baik, lagi best, and memang kita tak ingat dah yang dekat dunia. Maka, haruslah strive sekarang, haruslah mendoakan ibu bapa kita supaya kita dapat gather sama-sama dekat sana inshaAllah.

5. Lagu yang mengisahkan pasal kehidupan sekarang, apa yang dirasa dan dialami, Alhubbu Yasood by Maher Zain. Tolonglah dengar lagu ni dekat Youtube and kalau tak faham Arab, on translation dia dekat settings tu. Banyaknya lagu Maher Zain, tapi memang lagu dia best! Lagu ni special for Syria, tapi kalau belajar bahasa Arab dia, memanglah sangat mendalam. The English translation doesn't do it justice, the English version (Love Will Prevail) doesn't either. Lagu ni melambang hidup saya sekarang because, when I see the world, I know there are much evil and injustice out there. But it's okay, we have to be patient, do what we are ought to do, because love will prevail, and ultimately Allah's love will prevail. Bila study nak exam pun lagu ni sangat memberi semangat, dahla sekarang belajar bahasa Arab juga hehe. Tak sangka, jauh di negara Barat baru dapat peluang belajar bahasa al-Quran ni.

6. Lagu yang nak sangat nyanyi kat someone. Tak nak nyanyi sebab malu, haha, nak dedicate je kot, untuk zauji, lagu What Are Words - ft. Peter and Evynne Hollens by The Piano Guys. Lagu ni pun deep. Ye, saya deep orangnya -_-. Kalau kita semua rajin ungkapkan 'til jannah'. Apa maksud sebenar ungkapan tu? And kalau kita ungkapkan alhamdulillah, macam mana pula cara sebenar bersyukur. Huuu nangis.

7. Lagu untuk Rrai, Kun Anta! Hehe. Sebab, semua orang kena outshine and show their potential. Nabi kata manusia adalah logam, baiknya dalam jahiliyah, maka baik juga dia dalam Islam, sekiranya mereka faham. Saya doakan Rrai hebat dijalan yang baik and sentiasa berada dalam lindungan Allah :) !

A short trip to London, with Travel Tips

Dayana Zahari | Tuesday, June 30, 2015 | 1Comments |
This Ramadhan alhamdulillah zauji and I got the chance to visit London.
Walking through London streets in Ramadhan was surely challenging.
I was even offered 'nice halal food' by a shop promoter, and then he asked, are you fasting?
I can't imagine that happening in Malaysia. Fasting in Ramadhan is obligatory, hence of course I am/we are fasting. It saddens me due to the fact that the promoter is working in a halal food shop, hence I would have thought he would know that Muslims are currently fasting, I don't blame him entirely, if he isn't a Muslim, he can't be entirely sure about the obligation. It saddens me because, it made me think maybe that some of us are not fasting, hence his confusion.
Sigh.

If I were fasting in Malaysia, the most challenging I would say, would be our bazaars, and not our non-Muslim friends eating when it's their time to eat.

Someone requested to have a look at our photos taken in London, thus, voila.
Travelling to London requires a lot of money, since RM100 is currently equal to only £15. Yes, freak out. What is happening to our currency? Exactly.

London hotels and BnBs are usually about at least £60 and above, and I think even £60 is considered cheap. Maybe it depends on when you book them as well. I got mine for £20 per night because I stayed at a friend's place. Alhamdulillah for good friends, good connections.

On this short visit, we went to the Science Museum on Sunday morning.
Tip no 1: Try to visit the Science Museum before January 2016 because its current entrance is free although at the moment, you can donate any amount you prefer.

Experiencing how astronauts work in outer space.

Robots 3D IMAX movie - learning the history of robots and how the future of humanoids might become.

A must visit, the Buckingham Palace.
We never actually went in or anything, just had a look from the outside.
Tip no 2: Find out what time do the guards change and visit the palace at this time instead.

Tower Bridge
Tip no 3: To get this view of the Tower Bridge, visit the London Bridge instead, and yes they are different bridges.

Tip no 4: A lot of shops and attractions close early on a Sunday (mostly at 6PM), so try to visit those without closing hours on Sunday evenings.
We decided to go to the King's Cross Station to visit the Harry Potter shop, despite not buying anything.

Before our afternoon train on Monday, we went to Oxford Street, a shopper's paradise, and to Leicester Square to visit the M&M's World.
Tip no. 5: Slot in more hours for shopping. I didn't get time to buy souvenirs.
This calls for a next visit!

COLOURFUL M&M's!

Travel to Andalusia - Travel Expenses and Tips

Dayana Zahari | Friday, June 26, 2015 | 2Comments |
I went to Andalusia for one week. I was asked to share my travel expenses, so here they are.

The Ryanair flight was from Birmingham to Malaga.
Then there was a young driver's charge for the car that we rented because the driver has to be above 25 years old for that not to be charged to you.

We shared one pizza, to save budget. I couldn't have finished it all anyways.

Free sightseeing.

We ate cereal for breakfast.
TIP NO 1: For breakfast, you can bring with you cereal from home, and then buy milk from the grocery store in Spain and have those for breakfast.

We parked at the La Linea Football Stadium, although a bit far from the border of Gibraltar and Spain, it was cheaper than the other alternatives.
TIP NO 2: Find cheap parking spaces. You would need to do additional research for this - internet kan ada ;)

This one was quite expensive, but we didn't bring in our car to Gibraltar so we had to take a taxi up to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve - you can walk also but maybe you'd need longer and we didn't have much time to hike up Jabal Tariq. Gibraltar is a technically a British Overseas Territory. So it's like we're going into UK again - haha. Well, the taxi driver there said they don't regard themselves as Spanish nor British. They are Gibraltarians.

We drove a lot. Like a few hours in the morning, another few hours in the evening.
Car rentals, I can dare say they are CHEAP in Spain. Say, 3 days of car rental in the UK (including young driver's charge) would be about £190, but in Spain, we spent just £90 for one whole week.

TIP NO 3: Rent a car if you travel to Spain and if you're GOOD at driving, because this gives you the freedom of travel timing. BUT BE AWARE of the confusing roads once you get into the cities in Andalusia. The roads were made to be confusing once before to confuse the enemy during war - we got lost looking for parking for nearly one hour in Cordoba, we even accidentally took the turn back into the highway. If you see cars scratched in Spain, I'd say it's normal because I saw them everywhere. We always arrive in the cities at late evening, so free parkings are always taken, we had to find for proper parking spaces, which are quite difficult to be found. So I would say, if you drive, you'd need to be patient.

There were tolls though in Spain, unlike in England. But there weren't many, and you can choose roads without tolls - although you would take like one hour longer to arrive maybe.

TIP NO 4: Remember to bring your student ID when travelling, you can get cheap ticket entries in some places.
We rented the audio guide so that we could listen to the history.
TIP NO 5: Share the audio guide!

Off to Cordoba from Seville.

TIP NO 6 : Read and find out at the information guide for tourists about when will there be free entrance to these places.
The mesquita was free because we went early at 8.30am in the morning. It was winter at that time, it was tough to get out from the hotel early at that time! Alhamdulillah Spain was not as cold as England.

We try to find Halal food - although difficult in smaller cities like Ronda. We bought some packed food together with us but we figured that we needed hot food to provide us with energy.
TIP NO 7: If you're renting an apartment which most likely will have a kitchen, you can cook and pack your cooked meal and eat those while you do your sightseeing.

Again, we share our food.
We ate at Petra because the owner of this shop holds THE KEY to Cordoba's small mosque (maybe the one and only?). The inside was designed like the Mesquita.
The mosque used in Spain was once so big, and now it's only so small.

Parking gets more expensive in bigger cities.

TIP NO 8: If you have the budget, join in these tours because they'll surely show you more than what you can reach yourselves. Then if you have time, you can later explore the place on your own.

Again, the search for Halal food. We got ourselves in this beautiful Arab restaurant.

We wanted to treat ourselves with Ice Cream.

That's basically it, drop down a comment if you have any questions in particular.
If you're wondering how I found the hotels and Pensions, I used Booking.com.
Thanks for reading!
